The book is funny and touching. I've known several people like Koenig. When he tells stories about big stars he used to know, it is not out of jealousy or name-dropping (well, maybe a little), but to illustrate something in his life they were a part of. The individual stories in the book are well written and entertaining. The author of this book confessed, and wrote I am at a loss to understand as to why people describe love as a personal story. In his diaries he said he could write “a book of etiquette for neurotics.” Michaels’s later work, much of it published by the small, independent Mercury House, contains his greatest writing.
